About Me

I'm a 33-year-old father and husband born and bred in Massachusetts. I have a beautiful son named Will, a gorgeous wife named MJ who is far too hot to have married me, a dog I love and two cats I put up with. I'm a smart-ass former newspaper reporter with a penchant for turning a phrase, who decided to go corporate and is now enjoying life as a content manager for a website.

This blog is not just another "daddy blog." Sure I write about my son, but these pages are a record of my life. I don't just highlight the fun milestones like first steps, I also chronicle the "other stuff." The fights, the torment and the doubt that inevitably come with being a husband and father. It's not always puppy dogs and rainbows, but it is very real. And often there is beauty in the sadness, redemption in the struggle.

Thank you for checking me out, giving me a try and sticking around for the journey. If you'd like to contact me you can email aaron_gouveia (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Good News and A Request

So I know I announced I had some good news like 9 years ago, but I can finally spill the beans.

Parents magazine found my blog and one of the editors liked it. In fact, they liked it so much they asked me to write an article for them! So I’m happy to announce that although I don’t know the date yet, yours truly will be appearing in one of the most well known and well respected parenting magazines in the country!!

But I need your help. Although I don’t want to let on here what the article will be about, I do need to talk to some real life first time dads to get some perspective for the story. They want me to find first time dads from around the country and ask them some questions. So I need your help. If you’re a guy reading this and you’re interested in appearing in the magazine and helping me out, please leave a comment or e-mail me at the links provided on this site. And if you’re a mom and you want to strong arm your husband and guilt him into helping me, that’d be great too. Either way I need to talk to dads and they have to be from all different parts of the country. So if you’re interested, get in touch with me and I’ll fill you in and we’ll go from there.

I look forward to hearing from all of you and thanks for the continued support!

  • Dude! That’s great! I wish I could help you, but I’m not a father just yet.

Be sure to fill us in with other details as you can. Congrats!

Let me know what I gotta do… I think you’ve got our #’s! Oh, Seafood Festival was great, it’ll be nice when we can get you down here for it.

  • Lisa (MJ's cousin)

Congratulations!!!! That’s so awesome!! My husband, Richard, would be more than happy to help out. Just let us know!

  • I’m sure you’ve got MA covered, so I won’t strongarm my husband on this issue at least. Congratulations!

Congrats on the article. My husband is about to be a new father again, our son is almost 6 and next one is due in 44 days. And I bet there’s not a chance in heck he’d be interested in participating. Good luck finding open daddies like yourself to discuss…whatever the topic is!

On a side note, hope my Phils meet up with your Sox in the Series…and kick them squarely in the pants!
