What’s the first place you think of when you think about a dream vacation? Maybe it’s the Hawaiian islands, Mediterranean beaches, the Caribbean, or some place in Europe. And if I told you you could choose the perfect vacation spot and leave immediately, you know exactly where you’d go, right? Me too.
Sears, of course.
No, you’re not hallucinating. And yes, I’m talking about Sears. As in the store. Why, you ask? Well for starters, I hate hot weather, the beach, and the ocean. Seriously, I spent six years living on Cape Cod and went to the beach precisely one time, and NEVER swam in the ocean. Therefore the air conditioning at Sears already gives them a leg up.
But when you factor in the #DestinationDad deals Sears is offering for Father’s Day, it really seals the deal for me.
Let’s start with my experience at Sears, as well as a very cool and follically funny contest they’re running for Father’s Day.
I visited the Emerald Square Mall in North Attleboro, Mass., a shopping establishment I’ve been going to ever since I was a teenager. I went with my entire family, and we definitely raised some eyebrows since we were all wearing fake mustaches. And now you want to know why we were wearing fake mustaches.
Sears is running a “Snap Your ‘Stache” contest in which dads can either submit selfies or have spouses or kids take a picture and submit it on the Sears website. If you’re like me and can’t grow a mustache, don’t worry — either draw it on or wear a ridiculous fake one like I did.
If you submit everything before June 15, you’ll be eligible to win the Craftsman MAKEcation grand prize — a trip to Lake Arrowhead, California for an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime experience to learn from skillful blacksmiths, rugged woodworkers, cigar rolling aficionados, and barbecue pitmasters. You’ll also meet a mystery celebrity and bone up on your survival skills — and all fathers need more survival skills. Especially dads of teens.
But even if you’re not interested in the contest, Sears is still a fantastic place to get everything you need for dads.
Of course, the first place I went was directly to the electronics section. I was helped immediately by a friendly salesman, who put a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 Lite 7″ Tablet in my greedy little hands. Hint, hint family.
Next it was onto the Kenmore 4-Burner Gas Grill with a Folding Side Table, because every dad needs to pass on his grilling knowledge to the next generation.
Honestly, considering the men in my family are plagued by a vacation curse, our little staycation to Sears was the most productive and enjoyable vacation we’ve had in a while. The kids had fun, the staff was extraordinarily helpful, and I got all my Father’s Day shopping taken care of in one trip. That’s the Father’s Day trifecta right there.
So don your mustaches, snap a selfie, and get to Sears ASAP because it’s truly the Destination for Dads this Father’s Day.
