About Me

Babble.com's Top 50 Dad Blogs of 2011!I'm a 32-year-old father and husband born and bred in Massachusetts. I have a beautiful son named Will, a gorgeous wife named MJ who is far too hot to have married me, a dog I love and two cats I put up with. I'm a smart-ass former newspaper reporter with a penchant for turning a phrase, who decided to go corporate and is now enjoying life as a content manager for a website.

This blog is not just another "daddy blog." Sure I write about my son, but these pages are a record of my life. I don't just highlight the fun milestones like first steps, I also chronicle the "other stuff." The fights, the torment and the doubt that inevitably come with being a husband and father. It's not always puppy dogs and rainbows, but it is very real. And often there is beauty in the sadness, redemption in the struggle.

Thank you for checking me out, giving me a try and sticking around for the journey. If you'd like to contact me you can email aaron_gouveia (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Slurping Spaghetti

The kid learned how slurp spaghetti yesterday during lunch. He was struggling to eat it at first, mystified by the long strands that just wouldn’t seem to cooperate. Then, in a moment of pure brilliance and discovery, he sucked in his breath quickly and the piece of spaghetti zoomed into is mouth with a heartening “Sluurrrrrp!” sound.

He grinned triumphantly. And so did I.

Until I had to wipe him down anyways.

    Love the messy foods!!!

  • That’s awesome. I’m totally making sketti tomorrow.

  • Wow, he’s so advanced for his age. That’s great. It’s hard not to compare with other kids and feel bad that mine isn’t doing everything yet. My lil man Stan just started crawling this weekend. (I put a video of him crawling on his blog.) I know if he’s lagging behind it’s not by much he’s just doing stuff at his own pace. Now that he’s crawling it won’t be long at all before he’s walking since he’s always trying to pull himself up. I’ve so got to give Stan more big people food for him to try to eat. He did try a lil pancake at IHOP over the weekend.

  • That’s a great picture. Sadly I often look like that after eating spaghetti too. At least Will has someone else to clean him up.

  • Wipe???? I would say hose down is a better idea. He has it everywhere!
