About Me

Babble.com's Top 50 Dad Blogs of 2011!I'm a 32-year-old father and husband born and bred in Massachusetts. I have a beautiful son named Will, a gorgeous wife named MJ who is far too hot to have married me, a dog I love and two cats I put up with. I'm a smart-ass former newspaper reporter with a penchant for turning a phrase, who decided to go corporate and is now enjoying life as a content manager for a website.

This blog is not just another "daddy blog." Sure I write about my son, but these pages are a record of my life. I don't just highlight the fun milestones like first steps, I also chronicle the "other stuff." The fights, the torment and the doubt that inevitably come with being a husband and father. It's not always puppy dogs and rainbows, but it is very real. And often there is beauty in the sadness, redemption in the struggle.

Thank you for checking me out, giving me a try and sticking around for the journey. If you'd like to contact me you can email aaron_gouveia (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Grunt Work

My mom reminds me of an offensive lineman in the NFL. Now before you start to write me hate mail for calling my mom a fat, hairy beast of a 350-lb monster, just hear me out. And yes, if you’re wondering, I’m about to talk about parenting by using football as an example. I’ve done [...] [...]

Gridiron Bonding

In a few hours I’m going to be really, really cold. Temperatures will be in the mid-20s. Sustained winds will be between 15-20 MPH, with occasional gusts up to 35 MPH.  Factor in the windchill and it’ll be about 10 degrees outside. Snow flurries are not out of the question. The whipping winds will lash [...] [...]

Going Green

Sorry, but this is not a post about composting, recycling or reducing my carbon footprint. Today, I am happy to announce that Will has officially attended his first professional sporting event. That’s me, Will and Grandpa (aka theoldguy) at Tuesday night’s Boston Celtics game against the Milwaukee Bucks. My dad has season tickets but when [...] [...]

My Kid’s a Money-Maker

I had the day off yesterday so Will and I spent it with my parents. Well, to be honest, Will spent most of the day with my parents as I took the opportunity to get absolutely hooked on the hit TV show Sons of Anarchy. If you don’t watch it, start immediately. It’s unreal. But [...] [...]

Thanks Dad

Well it’s Father’s Day and I really had to think about what I wanted to post. After all, I’m a dad blogger. Father’s Day is a high holiday around these parts. So it had to be something good (for a change). Well it didn’t take much thinking to realize what I wanted to write about. [...] [...]
