This blog is not just another "daddy blog." Sure I write about my son, but these pages are a record of my life. I don't just highlight the fun milestones like first steps, I also chronicle the "other stuff." The fights, the torment and the doubt that inevitably come with being a husband and father. It's not always puppy dogs and rainbows, but it is very real. And often there is beauty in the sadness, redemption in the struggle. Today is my mom’s birthday, which gets overshadowed by Mother’s Day every single year. Then when I got married and became a father, her special days were obscured even more by the fact that Mother’s Day became mostly about MJ (and rightfully so). And unfortunately, since I’m pretty broke these days, I don’t have a [...] [...] This one may not be popular. Mother’s Day is tomorrow, and like all good husbands I’ve been trying to decide what to get my wife as a gift. You all know standard operating procedure calls for such things as jewelry, flowers, chocolate, a meal at a nice restaurant, etc. You know the drill. But I’m [...] [...] I’m a dad at a play group. And I am trouble. Odds are if you’re a dad and you’ve attended one of these local get-togethers where parents bring their kids to a predetermined destination for play-time or story-time, the first thing you notice is the sound of a record scratching when you walk in. And [...] [...] I’m partially stealing this from my very talented friend and colleague Sarah Shemkus who keeps this blog over at the Cape Cod Times Web site. Sarah points out her Top 10 Worst Commercials of 2009, and does so in very snarky, wonderful fashion. But the ad I want to hit on is this one from [...] [...] It’s Friday which means it’s Fatherhood Friday over at Dad-Blogs, where the wicked cool dad (and mom) bloggers hang out and showcase our insane talents as bloggers and writers.
