This blog is not just another "daddy blog." Sure I write about my son, but these pages are a record of my life. I don't just highlight the fun milestones like first steps, I also chronicle the "other stuff." The fights, the torment and the doubt that inevitably come with being a husband and father. It's not always puppy dogs and rainbows, but it is very real. And often there is beauty in the sadness, redemption in the struggle. Pregnancy is a fun, weird, trying and wonderful time. Sure it’s worthwhile to buy a few books and read up on what to expect, but it’s also fun to experience the unexpected. To ignore all the hype and just experience things for yourself without it being ruined by the ruminations of the grizzled veterans of the parenting trenches. [...] It may have been my brother who got married this weekend, but Nate and Melissa’s wedding had an unexpected benefit. Watching Nate before the wedding was really fun. I saw the excitement in his eyes and the eagerness to exchange those vows as soon as possible. When everyone else turns to look at the bride [...] [...] For my new readers (and the ones not paying enough attention), my little brother is named Nate. And he’s getting married this weekend in Delaware to a wonderful woman named Melissa. I love my brother. He is awesome for several reasons, but if you’re a fan of this blog he’s awesome because he’s the one [...] [...] I’m usually not one to brag, but my wife is the coolest fucking woman on the planet. I’m the best man for my brother’s wedding that’s coming up in March. And as I’m sure you all know, one of the chief responsibilities of the best man is to plan a kick ass bachelor party. I [...] [...] How do I sum up such a whirlwind vacation? With a super-long, extensive post complete with pictures, that’s how. First of all, the drive down to North Carolina took us a little under 14 hours. With a pregnant wife, a 2-year-old and a dog that ain’t half bad. At least the kid could pee in [...] [...] |
