About Me

Babble.com's Top 50 Dad Blogs of 2011!I'm a 32-year-old father and husband born and bred in Massachusetts. I have a beautiful son named Will, a gorgeous wife named MJ who is far too hot to have married me, a dog I love and two cats I put up with. I'm a smart-ass former newspaper reporter with a penchant for turning a phrase, who decided to go corporate and is now enjoying life as a content manager for a website.

This blog is not just another "daddy blog." Sure I write about my son, but these pages are a record of my life. I don't just highlight the fun milestones like first steps, I also chronicle the "other stuff." The fights, the torment and the doubt that inevitably come with being a husband and father. It's not always puppy dogs and rainbows, but it is very real. And often there is beauty in the sadness, redemption in the struggle.

Thank you for checking me out, giving me a try and sticking around for the journey. If you'd like to contact me you can email aaron_gouveia (at) yahoo (dot) com.

The Bet

I was SURE the Celtics were going to beat the Lakers. I mean REALLY sure. So sure, in fact, I made a bet with J.R. at Sex & The Single Dad and Jack at Jack Be Nimble in which the loser had to paint his face in the opposing team’s colors and perform a song [...] [...]

Will Is Officially a Star

My newspaper has a daily podcast called “CapeCast” that focuses on the lighter and quirkier stuff going on on the Cape. From time to time, reporters get called on to help out. Will and I volunteered today to try a peanut butter & jelly omelet courtesy of The Gourmet Brunch in Hyannis. So if you [...] [...]

BOOOO Canada!!

I don’t particularly enjoy hockey, but I would love to see the entire country of Canada collectively commit suicide over this game. My son has similar feelings. Check it out. Nothing like teaching blind nationalism at an early age. [...]

Stupid Bets

I love gambling. And all my friends know I’m a sucker for a good bet. When someone challenges me to a bet, no matter how silly the terms, I can’t refuse. But what’s worse, sometimes I’m too overconfident and I make up the bets myself. Such was the case two weeks ago when the Patriots [...] [...]

Snow. And Lots of It.

I’m too tired to write anything coherent, so I’ll take you through a pictorial day in the life of a snowed in Massachusetts resident. When I woke up, this is what I saw when I attempted to go outside: After spending 5 minutes shoving on the door and making an opening wide enough to squeeze [...] [...]
