About Me

I'm a 33-year-old father and husband born and bred in Massachusetts. I have a beautiful son named Will, a gorgeous wife named MJ who is far too hot to have married me, a dog I love and two cats I put up with. I'm a smart-ass former newspaper reporter with a penchant for turning a phrase, who decided to go corporate and is now enjoying life as a content manager for a website.

This blog is not just another "daddy blog." Sure I write about my son, but these pages are a record of my life. I don't just highlight the fun milestones like first steps, I also chronicle the "other stuff." The fights, the torment and the doubt that inevitably come with being a husband and father. It's not always puppy dogs and rainbows, but it is very real. And often there is beauty in the sadness, redemption in the struggle.

Thank you for checking me out, giving me a try and sticking around for the journey. If you'd like to contact me you can email aaron_gouveia (at) yahoo (dot) com.

The BEST Anniversary Gift

I think by now you all know where I’m headed with this. After all, my parents took Will for the night last night so we could be alone. And if you’re a parent, you know what happens when two adults who haven’t spent a night alone together get that opportunity.

And it’s safe to say we did not disappoint. I know this might be too much information, but when else do I get the chance to brag like this? So if you must know, we started doing it at 11 p.m. and we did it off and on until the sun came up. And why not? There was no baby to keep us up and we didn’t have to worry about him staying asleep. Knowing opportunities like this are few and far between, we really went for it.

We did it long, hard and deep. We used that mattress like we haven’t in months. And with no baby in the bed, we could really experiment with positions too. Truth be told, we did it in solid bursts all the way to 8:30 this morning.

That’s right faithful readers…MJ and I slept soundly the whole night, by ourselves until 8:30 a.m. Wait? What did you think I meant? Sandwiches??? HAHAHAHA! Any parent knows the first thing you do when you  have the house to yourself is get as many hours of uninterrupted sleep as possible.

Get your minds out of the gutter.

Now, if you’ll excuse me this will be my last post until later in the week by request of my lovely wife. We plan to have a proper white trash anniversary with our limited funds today. We’re going to the Verizon store because MJ’s phone is on the fritz. Then we’re going to the walk-in clinic to get me some antibiotics for this killer sinus infection. Next we’re headed to the ultra luxurious Trade Center Bowl in Falmouth to throw a few frames and have a beer or two. And it’ll all be capped off by dinner at a destination to be announced. Maybe Taco Bell but I’m not sure yet.

Ciao!
