Vacation All I Ever Wanted

Starting today, I’m on vacation. It’s only a mini-vacation until Wednesday, but I’ll take what I can get.

We’re going to New Hampshire, Jefferson, NH to be exact, which is pretty far north and not too far from Canada. We’ll be vacationing with some friends in a gorgeous house on 20 acres overlooking the White Mountains. But what’s that, you ask? How can you and MJ go on any kind of vacation when you’re broke as shit? Well, that’s a good question. And the answer involves our aforementioned friends.

One of my best friends, Alex (aka TheBear on these forums), told me he was renting a house in New Hampshire a few months ago and asked if we’d like two come. I told him yes, but no thanks because there was no way we could afford it. Without missing a beat, Alex told me not to worry about that and he’d cover us. He traves A LOT for work and he rents a room from our buddy Jim so he’s got some extra cash. And he said he’d rather have a vacation with the people he really wants there, even if it’s at his own expense. I feel like a complete freeloader, but I’m more appreciative than words can express. How’s that for quality of friends??

So we leave today and we’ll be there until Wednesday. I don’t know if there’s WiFi there but I’m bringing my laptop with me (against MJ’s wishes) because, let’s face it, I’m addicted to the Internet, blogging, and you fine people. How could I go four days without you? I can’t.

So I’ll be posting pictures and commentary from the White Mountains. And I warn you, some of those pictures will be taken in an inebriated haze so prepare yourselves.

Vacation. here I come!

  1. Hey, you guys have a great vacation with your great friends! Try to hit Storyland if you can. Our son loved it there even at a year old. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for an end to this hideous weather.

  2. I cannot tell you how much I feared we’d have to wait until you got back from vacation to be able to enjoy your fine writings! Then I read at the end that you thought so much of us to bring your laptop. Oh Daddy Files tears are welling up in my eyes. Thanks for taking us with you and ENJOY every moment of your time off. ;-)

  3. Wow, what a nice guy! That is where we’re going on vacation this year too (not until next month, though). We’re hitting the “kiddie” spots though – Storyland and whatnot, haha. No grown up vacations for us anymore! :)
I hope you have a great time!

  4. Jenn, I forgot to add that it’s not entirely an adult vacation. Our other friends will be there with their 4-year-old so it will be kid-centric.

And JEE, don’t forget the fireworks!
